In summary we have won grants; had unsafe trees removed;  gained permission from Middlesbrough Council to go into the wood with volunteers; obtained insurance to cover volunteers working; and started work on paths. See video below.

If you can spare an hour every now and then , we hope to open the Wood to the community in time for 8th May, the King’s Coronation at which His Majesty  wants to launch the Big Help Out  https://thebighelpout.org.uk/ . With the help of volunteers , we can make improve the wood in terms of access  so it becomes a haven for people but  maintaining the biodiversity for a green and healthy Nunthorpe.

The work done so far has removed a lot of the non native Spanish Laurel, but as you walk in the wood you hear the birds and see so may interesting sights. There are squirrel dreys, birds nests, and a wonderful view of Roseberry Topping.

We hope to open to the public very soon
